Summer Session 1

July 6, 2015 – July 31, 2015

Monday Activities

Beach Ball
Pool Party. Cool off from the heat and enjoy some fun at the Forest Park Aquatic Center. Warriors are reminded on days they go to make sure they bring a one piece bathing suit, towel, and sunscreen. All will be notified of the days they will be swimming prior to the start of the program session.

Gardening
The OK GreenCumber Garden. Warriors in this program will learn the basics of gardening and growing their own plants and produce. Produce grown in this program will be used in cooking groups as well as future culinary adventures.

Seuss
Write Like Dr. Seuss! Dr. Seuss wrote many great books and we will give them all another look. Taking silly words and making them rhyme, this writing group will be an awesome time.

Bug
A Bug’s Life, Too! Back by popular demand, our Bug’s Life program will continue to explore the exciting world of insects.

Wednesday Activities

Community Opps
Community Opportunities. This session we will continue to develop our chosen community partnership and lend a helping hand to our community.

Water Balloons
Backyard Games H20. We will take simple backyard games we are used to and add some water to the mix to keep us cool. Warriors are reminded on days they go to make sure they bring a one piece bathing suit, towel, and sunscreen. All will be notified of the days they will be swimming prior to the start of the program session.

Hiking
Nature Club. It is all about the outdoors with this group. This group will go out to different nature centers and trails every week to enjoy mother nature.

Organic
Organics with Keely. Whether it is the food we eat or the products we use, Keely Baldwin is here to show us how to make them organic. The group will learn all that needs to be done to make something organic as well as make their own organic soaps and other products.

Friday Activities

Kebab Grill
Dis-kabob-ulated. Our cooking group this session will be making different form of kabobs each week. And the rule is, everything must be made on the grill!

Puzzle
Puzzles. Don’t be confused about this group. This program will have Warriors not only putting together puzzles but designing and making their own puzzles.

Hero Professions
Real Life Heroes. Last session, we had a chance to learn about superheros. This session we will be learning about real life heroes. Warriors in this group will talk about what heroes they have in their lives and share their stories with the group.

Hoop Net
Nothing But Net! This sports program will focus on a different sport each week that requires a net. Tennis, badminton, volleyball and more will be explored in this program.

 

Summer Session 2

August 17, 2015 – September 18, 2015

Monday Activities*

Gardening

The OK GreenCumber Garden. Warriors in this program will learn the basics of gardening and growing their own plants and produce. Produce grown in this program will be used in cooking groups as well as future culinary adventures.

Space

Lost in Space. What’s the difference between a planet and a star? How was it possible for a man to walk on the moon? These questions and more will be answered in this space science program.

Softball

Softball. The Annual OK Classic is right around the corner and we need to get back in the swing of things. We will go to Washington Park each week and practice the basics and scrimmage.

Wednesday Activities

Community Opps

Community Opportunities. This session we will continue to develop our chosen community partnership and lend a helping hand to our community.

Bikes Trikes

Bikes and Trikes. ‘Tis the season to be outdoors and test our wheels. Whether it’s on two wheels or three, this crew will venture through bike safety obstacle courses and around the neighborhood. Helmets and safety gear will be provided by all.

Sports

Adaptive Sports. We will head to Washington Park and take on old game and make it new again. We will spend the first half of program playing a classic sport or game. Then we will get creative and add new rules and twists to each.

Fine Art

Recreating Masterpieces. From the Mona Lisa to Saturday Afternoon in the Park, we will review classic works of art. Then we will learn how to make our versions of them using different forms of art than the originals.

Friday Activities

Grill

License to Grill. Fast Food Makeover Addition!Your mission is to make delicious and healthy meals with the grill as your only source of heat. And you must take classic fast food dishes and give them a healthy spin. Warrior Chefs in this group will learn how to skip the fat by adding flavor!

Detective Silloughette

Mystery Dinner Theater. Warriors in this group will be responsible for planning our Mystery Dinner Theater game for our Family Day on September 18th. This group will come up with the crime and plant the clues for this event.

Superman

Revenge of the Nerds. From technology to superheroes to science fiction, it has never been cooler to be a “nerd”. Warriors in this group will study these things and more and see what has made “nerd culture” so popular today.

Relationship Class

Giving Back. We all know the greatest feeling we can have is to help others. This group will have the honor of visiting local nursing homes on a weekly basis and leading activities for their residents to partake in.
