DBB URBAN GARDENING SPOTLIGHT VID: “Warriors on the O.K. Farm”…On the last Saturday in July, Kev and I took in three stand-out urban gardening demos, as stops on the 6th Annual Sugar Beet Co-op Edible Garden Tour 2017. In this first of a two-part series on urban gardening practices, we are taking a closer look at an urban farm that is making an impact with innovative social enterprise programming geared to individuals living with developmental disabilities. So, please do meet the “Warrior Farmers” of Opportunity Knocks. They are part of a local, sustainable food movement that uses a seed to jar pickle making model (onsite Knockout pickle production) that in season takes root on donated “farm” land, courtesy of ReUse Depot.
