Opportunity Knocks is an official charity partner of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon!! Runners will be fundraising for Opportunity Knocks as they train to run 26.2 miles on October 8, 2017.

We are excited to introduce you to Meg, one of our dedicated team members!!!

Why are you running for Opportunity Knocks? I am running for Opportunity Knocks in honor of my I Run 4 Buddy, Hylan. Hylan was born with Down Syndrome in 2014 and he and his family live in Illinois. I decided to run for OK because I know that Hylan will one day be able to take advantage of the programs OK has to offer. I want to make sure there is always support for the amazing programs, activities and opportunities OK provides to those who need them most. It is so important that anyone like Hylan is able to live an enriched and independent life, full of education, fun and opportunity. I am so proud to run for OK!

Where/when was your first marathon? Boston – 2014

How many marathons have you run? 2

Most memorable race/run? My first Boston Marathon in 2014 was the most memorable…so far! I ran for an organization that I have always loved and supported, and Boston is my home so it was a very special experience. But I am REALLY excited to visit Chicago for the FIRST TIME and get to run to support such a wonderful organization like OK.

Hot or Cold weather running? I prefer cool weather running personally. Heat is such a drag! But I have run in some pretty frigid temps here in New England so I’ve seen it all!

Can’t run without… positive vibes!

What’s the farthest you’ve ever run at one time? 26.2 miles!

Why do you run? Because I GET to! Running is a challenge – sometimes runs are light and easy, other times they are hard and slow. But each time I run I remember how fortunate I am to be able to do it, and I so appreciate that. I run for those who can’t! I Run 4 Hylan!
